Substitutes

Substitutes are called on an "As Needed" basis.

Must have at least a High school diploma or GED.  Must have an excellent attendance record, be self-motivated, positive, and team-orientated with the ability to work cooperatively with staff and students.  Must perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.

Substitute Para Educator positions available include:
                                 

  

  • Lunch/recess aides ~ $9.00/hour
  • Classroom Assistants ~ $9.50/hour
  • Special Education Assistants ~ $9.50/hour
  • Special Education Bus Aides ~ $9.50/hour
  • Library Aides ~ $9.50/hour
  • Intervention/Great Start Readiness Para Educators (must have at least an associate’s degree) ~ $10.50/hour

Bus Drivers

Bus Drivers must have a valid Michigan driver license, positive driving record, and the ability to manage students’ behavior during transport. Starting pay is $10.50/hour with potential to make $15.77/hour.   Interested candidates may complete an application including a review of experience appropriate to the position.  Harper Creek Community Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer.   Please provide written notification for any special needs accommodation.

Food Services

Employment opportunities are available within the Food Service Department at Harper Creek Community Schools through Chartwells.   Experience is preferred but not required.  Applicant must be able to pass a federal and state background check.  Applicants may apply in person at the High School Food Service Office or at Harper Creek Administration Office.
 

VIT (Very Important Teacher) Program

Harper Creek Community Schools, in partnership with PESG, is pleased to introduce the Very Important Teacher Program (VIT) for substitute teachers.  The basics of the VIT Program are that sub teachers can receive a bonus based on the amount of days they work at Harper Creek during each month of school.  We are hopeful that this extra incentive for substitute teachers will encourage them to choose Harper Creek.
The bonuses are as follows:

A $100 bonus will be given for working the equivalent of 10 full or half days in a given month.

A $225 bonus will be given for working the equivalent of 15 full or half days in a given month.

A $400 bonus will be given for working the equivalent of 20 full or half days in a given month.

This bonus program is effective throughout the 2016-17 school year.  All bonuses will be calculated after the month's end and will be paid out the following month to all qualifying individuals.

Long-term subs will qualify for this bonus during their first 20 days only.

No registration is necessary--subs just need to work!
