• an atmosphere that will inspire a life-long interest in reading and the use of technology
• equal access to resources that supports all students at all academic levels
• the freedom to read, learn, and discover

Meet the Librarian

Hi!

My name is Kathy Smalley, but the students call me Grandma Kathy.  I am here to assist students and teachers with any information needs.

I was born and raised in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School.  Previously I worked for the Federal Government and retired after 39 years.  After retirement, I volunteered in the library and in the classrooms here at Beadle Lake Elementary.  When the librarian retired at the end of last year, I applied for the job and was chosen to replace her.  

I look forward to working with the students to help them develop their love of reading.  I absolutely love the staff and students of Beadle Lake Elementary.  They have made me feel very welcome, both as a volunteer and now as librarian.
