NAACP Heritage Quiz Bowl
Congratulations to our Harper Creek Middle School teams that participated in the annual NAACP Heritage Quiz Bowl Competition this last Saturday at Battle Creek Central High School!
Harper Creek Middle School was proud to sponsor two teams: Team Blue (Landon Caldwell, Paxton Glessner, Nolan Mouser, and Sean Crockett and Team Beavers with Hats (Rhiley-An Wheaton, Michael McMullen, La’Vaeh Force – Fisher and Cameron Johnson) Our students, led by teacher Rachel Dempsey, worked hard to prepare for this exciting academic competition.
Congratulations to all participants and a special congratulations to the NAACP Heritage Quiz Bowl Champs from Harper Creek Middle School – Team Beavers with Hats!
Attention Staff and Students! Students, please remember to deposit your LEAD tickets in the grade-level bin in the cafeteria. Teachers don't forget to sign them so that you have a chance to win a prize too! Starting at the end of the month, there will be a prize for the student in each grade level who has received the most Lead Tickets.
Students interested in What A Do Theater: Get ready for the spotlight — this year’s middle school play is Matilda Jr.! Visit the Middle School website for Registration and more information. Rehearsals kick off on March 9th, and performances will take place April 24th, 25th, and 26th. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Fronsman or Mrs. Mayhew. Don’t miss your chance to be part of the magic.
Students interested in Robotics: There will be an introductory meeting for 5th through 8th graders considering joining Robotics next year. The meeting will be held in the Library at the Administration building today, February 24, at 6:00 pm. There is no sign-up at this time. Please plan to attend the meeting for more information.
Attention 5th & 6th grade girls! Girls on the Run is back! Come run, laugh, and build new friendships. Registration is open now—stop by the main office to grab a flyer and sign up. Our running adventure starts on Tuesday, March 10! Teachers: Girls on the Run is seeking coaches! Interested in getting involved or know someone who is? Contact Ms. Mayhew to learn how.
In Sports News:
The 8th grade girls basketball teams traveled to Pennfield last night and both teams brought home wins! The B team won in a close game 21-18. Top scorers were:
Jordyn White, Hailey Green, Abby Miller, and Annabelle Shea all with 4 points, Addi Waterson and Briella Fry with 2 points, and Aaliyah Noel with 1 point.
The A team played hard against the Panthers beating them 41-17. Top scorers were:
Peyton Bess with 10 points,
Lilly Gandy, Isa Stanley, and Lyla Zumer with 8 points,
Kinsey Jozwiak had 4 points and
Aaliyah Noel and Jazmin Landenberger both with 2 points.
Great job, girls! The B team will be playing Coldwater at home this Wednesday directly after the 7th grade B and A games. Come on out for a triple header!
7th grade A Team beat Pennfield 39-11. The top scorers were Lauren Casselman with 23 points. Payton Smith with 12 points. Reese Danielson and Emersyn Green each had 2 points.
7th B Team lost a hard fought game. Edriana Dimas scored 9 points. Kaprice Stacy, Aurora Davidson, Raquel Duran and Kei’Mareya Arms all scored 2 points.
Attention 6th through 8th-grade girls! Harper Creek Middle School Club Softball tryouts will be held the week of March 16. Stop by the Main Office to grab a flyer with all the details.
If you are interested in Middle School Lacrosse, please sign up in the main office. You will need to take a registration form and waiver to be completed by your parents, then return those to the main office.
Also, there will be an informational meeting this Friday, Feb. 27, 6:00 pm in the Middle School Cafeteria.
Attention 7th and 8th graders interested in playing tennis. Tennis sign-ups are posted outside Mrs. Eddy’s classroom and outside the gym across from Mrs. Renner’s classroom. Please sign up only yourself and write legibly. We will have an informational tennis meeting on February 26th following announcements. You must sign up to come to the meeting and actually intend on playing tennis. If you are not signed up, you will be sent back to class.
