Girls on the Run participants—no need to sign up, you’re already in! The race is this Saturday, May 16 at 9:00 a.m. Let’s come out strong and show our support—hope to see you at the starting line!
Attention 5th and 6th graders: Are you interested in swimming? Come join us at the Harper Creek High School pool for a quick lesson and a fun swim. This event will be this Friday, May 15th from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Sign up is in the main office.

Last night at the I-8 League Meet, the ladies track team rose to the challenge and made history once again! The girls battled through the less-than-ideal weather conditions to capture their THIRD straight I-8 League Championship title in dominant fashion.
Our team put together an incredible performance, finishing with an outstanding score of 192 points, while our toughest rivals, Western, came in second with 155 points. From explosive finishes on the track to powerful performances in the field events, the ladies showed determination, grit, and championship heart all night long.
A few amazing highlights include:
In the 70 meter dash, Raymeanna Trevino and Ryker Long took 4th and 5th place
In the 100 meter dash, Raymeanna Trevino, Jazmin Landenberger, and Ryker Long took 4th, 5th, and 6th place
In the 200 meter dash, Sophia Zima took 2nd and Sarah Murphy took 4th - both earning new personal best times
In the 400 meter dash, Sophia Zima took 1st with another personal best and Abby Miller took 6th
In the 800 meter run, Lyla Zumer and Mila Heil battled taking 2nd and 3rd place both with pr's while Emersyn Green took 6th place
Our distance girls had incredible performances last night! Mila Heil, Piper Surls and Lucy Schwartz dominated in the mile with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes. Harper Creek also swept in the two mile with Sophia Zima, Piper Surls and Lucy Schwartz taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. All three girls had killer pr times and a special shout out to Sophia Zima who crushed her previous school record with a new time of 12 minutes and 15 seconds. Awesome job, ladies!
In hurdles, our girls showed up against strong competition with Lily Gandy taking 2nd in both the 55 and 200 hurdles with pr's in both races. Kennedy Winter also performed well in the 200hurdles earning a new pr time and 3rd place.
All four relay teams earned solid points for our team, taking 2nd place in all relay events. Props to Joslyn Pop, Lily Gandy, Lyla Zumer and Jazmin Landenberger in the 4x1, Joslyn Pop, Lyla Zumer, Ryker Long, and Jazmin Landenberger in the 4x2, Kinsey Joswiak, Emersyn Green, Abby Miller, and Fiona Grimm in both the 4x4 and 4x8.
In field events, Raymeanna Trevino stayed competitive in the high jump, earning 2nd place. Adi Waterson took 3rd in the shot with a new pr distance of 30'1". Edriana Dimas got a new pr of 6'0 in the pole vault, taking 2nd place. And in the long jump, Sarah Murphy took 3rd place with a new pr distance of 13'10" while Mila Heil took 5th and Kennedy Winter took 7th.
Coach Arnett and Coach Ellenwood are so proud of the hard work that the ladies have put in all season, challenging themselves to build both physical and mental toughness. Congratulations again on another league championship - you girls earned it!"
The boys capped an undefeated season with a great night at the League Meet.
Brock Wagner, Brogan Millen, Colin Alday and Jacob Gallagher started the meet off with a bang recording their fastest time of the season in the 4 by 800.
Brogan also had his quickest 800 meter run at 2 minutes and 35 seconds with a bronze finish. Alday also ran his best.
Wagner put points on the board for Harper in both the mile run and the pole vault.
Gallagher took 3rd in the long jump, with Malachi Heil placing 4th.
The duo also took 2nd and 3rd in the 400.
It was a very competitive 2 mile race with Carson Keller and Cayden Dell both with top finishes.
Cooper Ledbetter recorded a personal best in the 100 meters at 12.76 seconds taking 4th followed by Colton Hess in 5th.
The highlight of the night was the team of Messiah Hampton, Colton Hess, Malachi Heil, and Mason Robinson blazing the track to win the most competitive race of the night, the 4 x 100 with a time of 50.11 seconds.
Robinson could not be stopped and had the night of his career, seeing gold in both the 70 and 200 meters.
Other notable performances of the evening included the utility man Nolan Primm and Tate Ray a.k.a. “White Lightning.”
It was another successful season for Harper Boys Track and could not have happened without the rest of the team. Great job boys!
The 5th/6th lacrosse team hosted Vicksburg last night. A disciplined half of ball possession and stellar defense led to a 2nd half shutout, giving the team a 7-2 victory. This win solidifies the 5/6 team finishing in 1st place on the season.
All goals on the night were assisted. AJ Stap and Landon Casselman each had 2 assists. Vinnie Ianitelli also had 2 assists and 2 goals. Jaxon Morales had 1 assist. Jim Rice and Max Harrington both had 1 goal each, and Maverick Peterson punched in 3 goals. Goalie Greyson Temple, faced a total of 22 shots on goal, finished with 17 saves.
Next game is Friday vs Lakeview for the playoffs.
