In Sports News โThe boys' track team battled it out against Coldwater and Parma Western last night. ๐โโ๏ธ Bryce Lofgren placed 2nd in both the 70m dash with a blazing 9.04 and the 100m with a personal best of 12.45.๐โโ๏ธ Connor O'Connell brought home the win in pole vault at 8โ0โ and also anchored the 1st place 4x400 relay team alongside Cooper Monroe, Andon Elkins, and Jacob Gallagher. Gallagher also took second in the 400. ๐โโ๏ธ Cooper Monroe earned 2nd in the 1600m with a personal record of 5:16.52.๐โโ๏ธ Jojo Ruble hurdled his way to 2nd in both the 55m hurdles and 200m hurdles.๐โโ๏ธ Jamier Page sprinted to a 2nd place finish in the 200m with a time of 27.53.๐โโ๏ธ Messiah Hampton soared to a PR in the high jump at 4โ6โ. The boys face off against Marshall next week on Wednesday at home. Let's go, Beavers!
The ladies' track team competed in a double dual meet last night against Coldwater and Parma Western. The girls dominated against Coldwater with a score of 130-32. It was neck and neck with Parma Western all evening, and the girls fought hard but ultimately fell with a score of 89-85. Here are some highlights from last night's meet: In the 70-meter, Bristol Latimer took second place, and LaโRiah Force followed with a third-place finish.LaโRiah also placed third in the 100 Meters, with Carsen Bunker just ahead in second. Alaina Kirkpatrick had a standout performance in the 200 Meters, taking first place. Ella Brannen took first in the 400 Meters, while Abby Miller finished strong in fourth. In the 800 Meters, Carsen Bunker ran to a third-place finish. Anna Loritz placed third in the mile, followed by Lucy Schwartz in fourth with a personal record. Harper Creek also had a strong showing in the two-mile, with Lucy Schwartz and Lyla Zumer finishing second and third.
In the 55m Hurdles, Lilyan Gandy claimed first place with a PR, and Adeline Higgs took third, also with a personal best. Lilyan and Adeline came back strong in the 200m Hurdles, finishing first and second, respectively, both with personal records. Harper Creekโs 4x400 Relay team of Ella Brannen, Mya Mattens, Abby Miller, and Alaina Kirkpatrick ran away with first place. The 4x800 Relay squad of Abby Miller, Lyla Zumer, Anna Loritz, and Amara Gothard also took first. In the field events, Adeline Higgs threw for second in the Shot Put, with KayโLynn Totzke earning fourth and a PR, and Ellie Madison not far behind in sixth, also with a personal best. Ella Brannen and Holland Van Dussen took second and third in the High Jump, respectively. And in Pole Vault, Ella Asher cleared a new personal record of 5โ6โ to place fourth overall. Next week, the girls will compete against Marshall.
Last night, Harper Creek worked hard to dry off the courts after the afternoon rain, and at 4:30, we finally got to play Marshall. We fought hard to win 6-2 against the Red Hawks. No match would be possible without the hard work of many players helping to clean the courts. MVPs were Kennedy Clark, Alex Kachman, Natalea Burrett, Chloe Crowe, Noah Martin, Taylor Duktkiewicz, & Avery Morales. Thank you to the team for working hard and enduring the spring rain-- you guys rock!
