Door Decorating started last week and continues through next Wednesday. All 1st hour classes are invited to decorate their doors with a theme that reflects the joy, memories, and accomplishments of this year, or the excitement for summer. Happy decorating!
Advisory Teachers: Hopefully, you enjoyed chapter twenty-three of our “One Book, One School” Restart. Today's question is: Chase’s journey of rediscovering who he is and how his actions affect those around him is a powerful reminder that our choices can deeply influence people, even if we don’t always realize it. How can I be more aware of the impact my actions have on others and show kindness, even when I’m unsure of the right thing to do? (Please read Chapter 24 for tomorrow.)
In Sports News- The girl's track team showed up and dominated at last night's league meet, walking away as LEAGUE CHAMPIONS two years running! All of our girls had a great season and should be very proud of all that they have accomplished. The top 7 places earned points for the team last night, leading to their victory. Some highlights from last night include: Our sprinters dominated in their events. Alaina Kirkpatrick took 1st place in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Bristol Latimer took second in the 70 and the 100 as well as 7th in the 200. In the hurdles, Lilyan Gandy battled it out, taking 2nd in both the 55 and 200 hurdles. Katie Duckworth got 6th in the 200 hurdles. In mid-distance, Alaina snagged 1st in the 400, and Ella Brannen took 2nd. Ella also dominated in the 800, gaining ground in the competition and blowing them away. Abby Miller snagged 5th in the 800 while Lyla Zumer took 7th and Mya Mattens earned points for the team, taking 6th in the 400 with a 3-second PR. In the distance races: In the mile, Lucy Schwartz and Anna Loritz walked away with 5th and 7th place. Lucy Schwartz, Marissa Demorest, and Lyla also all earned points in the two-mile. Relays had a strong showing: The 4x100 team of Gabby Barroso, Katie Duckworth, Ryker Long, and Amara Gothard got 3rd place
The 4x200 team of Anna, Lilyan, Amara, and Holland took 1st place. The 4x400 team of May Mattens, Sarah Murphy, Abby Cook, and Abby Miller got 3rd place. And the 4x800 team of Marissa Demorest, Abby Miller, Lyla Zumer, and Holland Van Dussen earned 1st place. And in the field events, Addie Higgs took 1st in the shot put! Ella Bushman got 9th. In the high jump, Ella Brannen got 2nd, Holland Van Dussen got 4th, and Katie Duckworth took 5th. In the long jump, Abby Cook took 5th and Gabby Barroso got 6th. In the pole vault, Amara Gothard and Ella Asher snagged 5th and 6th place. It was a night full of tough competition and fierce battles to earn points for our team. The girls showed up ready to rock and gave everything they had on the track. Well done on an awesome season, ladies!
Boys' track battled it out at the League Meet last night. Jacob Gallagher had a big day, taking second in the 400 meters with a personal record of 59.63 seconds. He also helped power the 4x800 with Landan Jenkins, Blake Kane, and Brock Wagner finishing third. Cooper Monroe also placed third in the 1600 meters, setting a personal best with a time of 5:09.39. Josiah Ruble earned third in the 200-meter hurdles, clocking a personal record of 29.46 seconds. The 4x400 relay team of Monroe, Gallagher, Elkins, and O’Connell finished the night strong in second place. Shout-outs also go to:
- Landan Jenkins, who set a personal record in the 3200 meters
- Karsen Anderson setting a PR in shot
- Connor O’Connell, who cleared a personal best height of 8'6" in the pole vault
