Mrs. Kaylah Eddy’s classroom was a buzz with elf-like activity as her sixth-grade homeroom students and several parent volunteers prepared gifts and stockings for clients of Inasmuch House.

Thanks to funding provided by Oaklawn Medical Group, Mrs. Eddy’s class assembled 16 stockings for the mothers, 23 stockings and a toy for the children. Inasmuch House is an emergency shelter for women and is part of The Haven which provides various services for unhoused people.

Inspiration for the project came from Mrs. Eddy’s mother, Amy Babcock NP. Ms. Babcock and a few colleagues were ready to tackle the project until Mrs. Eddy suggested her students take on the task as a holiday service project.

Through the busyness of the classroom, students worked at different stations making fleece scarves, creating cards, assembling stockings, and having snacks as part of their classroom party. Happy chatter filled the air making a merry atmosphere full of giving and celebrating.

Mrs. Eddy’s class experienced the magic of the season while also sharing the Harper Creek Community School spirit of sharing Joy and Heart for People.
