The 7th and 8th Dance is this Friday, February 20^th. All previously purchased tickets will be honored. Tickets will be on sale this week. This is not a formal dance, so please do not bring formal attire to change into. You may not leave and re-enter the dance. The dance is right after school from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Please have your ride waiting promptly at 5:00 pm in the parent pick-up lot on the east side of the building. 

Admission is $5.00, and Concessions will be available

Harper Creek Schools is thrilled to be partnering with What A Do Theatre for the musical Matilda.

Registration and Casting:  All those interested in participating will need to register on Ludus. We will take up to 35 students for the production this year. If we have more than 35 students who register, we will use auditions to select students. Those who are not selected for the cast will be refunded on the software within the first week of auditions. You will need to be registered to attend the auditions.

Auditions:  We try to make auditions a very low stress experience. We will share with you our plans for auditions so you can prepare if it helps you. Those materials will be posted in a BAND Page which will be available to you after you register for the program. 

Please note that with the potential for cuts this year, we are looking at how students show up behaviorally at an audition. Can they listen? Can they follow directions? That matters as much as talent. We will work with students of all experiences to make them feel comfortable and see what they can do. Staff at What A Do has been working in theatre for 10+ years and believe in a positive environment where students are able to perform and feel supported. 

Please make sure we are aware of ALL conflicts during rehearsal time. Conflicts would be the thing we will look at when casting. We do not accept conflicts on Tech week (the week of April 20). If there are too many conflicts or conflicts that arise that were not communicated in the beginning, may result in a student being recast or dismissed from the production. All parts matter and all are necessary for a successful show. 

Rehearsal Schedule:(Week One): 

-Monday, March 9: Auditions 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (All that have registered attend)

-Tuesday, March 10: Auditions 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (All that are registered attend)

-Wednesday, March 11: No Rehearsal, Staff will cast the show and make an announcement

-Thursday, March 12: 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm First Rehearsal, All that are cast attend. (AFTER Rehearsal, we will have a parent meeting at 5:00 pm. This will be the first time we do this, but think it will be helpful for the process to answer questions and have parents sign up in areas they would like to help)

Rehearsals will take place March 16-April 17 (no rehearsals during spring break)

Tech week: April 20 - April 23

Students, please remember that your cell phone must be off and in your locker from bell to bell, that means 7:40 am to 2:40 pm. Teachers have been directed to report all phone sightings to the office for documentation. If we find out that you have used your phone during school, that also will be documented. 

Attention Staff and Students! Students, please remember to deposit your LEAD tickets in the grade-level bin in the cafeteria.  Teachers don't forget to sign them so that you have a chance to win a prize too! Starting at the end of the month, there will be a prize for the student in each grade level who has received the most Lead Tickets.

8^th Graders interested in applying to the Math and Science Center. The window closes today at 3:00 pm.Please see Mrs. Schultz if you are in need of more information.

Harper Creek Middle School is excited to have two teams participating in the NAACP Heritage Quiz Bowl Competition on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Battle Creek Central High School. Our students, led by teacher Rachel Dempsey, have worked hard to prepare. Please arrive early and be seated by 9:45 am. The competition will begin at 10:00 am. Come out to cheer them on!

Students interested in What A Do Theater: Get ready for the spotlight — this year’s middle school play is Matilda Jr.! Visit the Middle School website for Registration and more information. Rehearsals kick off on March 9th, and performances will take place April 24th, 25th, and 26th. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Fronsman or Mrs. Mayhew. Don’t miss your chance to be part of the magic.

Students interested in Robotics: There will be an introduction meeting for 5th through 8^th graders who are thinking about joining Robotics next year. The meeting will be held in the Library at the Administration building next Tuesday, February 24 at 6:00 pm. There is no sign-up at this time. Please plan to attend the meeting for more information. 

Attention 5th & 6th grade girls! Girls on the Run is back! Come run, laugh, and build new friendships. Registration is open now—stop by the main office to grab a flyer and sign up. Our running adventure starts on Tuesday, March 10! Teachers:  Girls on the Run is seeking coaches! Interested in getting involved or know someone who is? Contact Ms. Mayhew to learn how.
