Countdown to DK/Kindergarten is for children who will be attending kindergarten or DK in the 2026 - 2027 school year.
Two sessions will be held at each of the Harper Creek Community Schools' elementary schools.
Join us from 6:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 3, and Tuesday, April 7, at one of these schools:

NAACP Heritage Quiz Bowl
Congratulations to our Harper Creek Middle School teams that participated in the annual NAACP Heritage Quiz Bowl Competition this last Saturday at Battle Creek Central High School!
Harper Creek Middle School was proud to sponsor two teams. Team Blue students are Landon Caldwell, Paxton Glessner, Nolan Mouser and Sean Crockett. Team Beavers with Hats students are Rhiley-An Wheaton, Michael McMullen, La’Vaeh Force – Fisher and Cameron Johnson. Our students, led by teacher Rachel Dempsey, worked hard to prepare for this exciting academic competition.
Congratulations to all participants and a special congratulations to the NAACP Heritage Quiz Bowl Champs from Harper Creek Middle School – Team Beavers with Hats!

For 5th grade: Kha’Mar Mabry Glass, Lucas Schultz, Antonio Collazo, Giuliana Garzelloni, Forest Shive, Grace Klein, Ira Ries, DeJuan Irons, and Charlee Peet. 6th Grade: Mackenzie Jacobs, Kairi Belcher, Reese Casarez, Greyson Wallace, Lincoln Bacon, Brycen Pratt, Isabella Wattie, and Charlotte Philpott. 7th Grade: Taym Ali, Emersyn Green, Fiona Grimm, Molly Schwartz, Ivy Aldrich, Pierson Hoffman, Berkley Wagner, Max Thayer, Victoria Bogema, Allena Prough, and Trent VanAuken. 8th Grade: Harylynn Casey, Lilyan Gandy, Aaliyah Noel, Jake Allen, and Arianna Gordon. These individual choices—showing respect, helping others, and striving to improve—help make our school a better, more caring place for everyone.
Attention Staff and Students! Students, please remember to deposit your LEAD tickets in the grade-level bin in the cafeteria. Teachers don't forget to sign them so that you have a chance to win a prize too!
5th through 7th-grade students. Once your elective scheduling sheets have been signed by a parent, please return them to your first-hour teacher.
Any staff and students are invited to look at Landform projects completed by 5th graders in the cafeteria before or after school this week. Bring a device and scan the QR code for a video from the students about what they learned about their landform!
In Sports News:
There is a sign-up in the office for anyone who is interested in the Middle School Equestrian Team, 5th through 8th grade. All are eligible as long as you own or have access to a horse suitable for the showing gymkhana events. The show will be held on May 16 and 17 at the St. Joseph County Grange Fairgrounds in Centreville. Start time is 8:30 am and will be all day. If you would like more information, please stop by the main office for a form.
Attention middle school students interested in playing tennis. Try-outs will be held on March 23rd and 24th. There will be a parent meeting on March 23rd at 4:00 pm. Remember, you must have a sports physical on file to try out, and there is a $30 sports fee. Please see Coach Eddy or Coach Lindsey if you have any questions.
Middle School Lacrosse is still accepting registrations, we are looking for more 7th and 8th graders to round out the team. Practice begins Monday, March 23rd at 6:00 pm. You must have a physical turned in and all necessary equipment, including a mouthguard. Registration forms can be turned in to the office.
